Andy's other work:
Zero Balancing
I am one of just a few Zero Balancers to
practice in Australia. I have 20 years of
experience of other styles of bodywork, including
Thai Massage, Reflexology, Deep Tissue Massage,
Spineworks, Aromatherapy and Reiki. I now
prefer ZB as the deepest yet simplest modality.
I practice at Gwinganna Health Retreat (www.gwinganna.com)
and Camp Eden Health Retreat (www.campeden.com.au)
both in the Gold Coast hinterland.
I can be booked privately by appointment.

What is Zero Balancing?
The short answer is: Zero Balancing (ZB)
is a mixture of the best of osteopathy and
acupuncture, aligning both structure and
energy.
It is a hands-on, gentle yet deep bodywork
that is received lying down fully clothed
on a massage couch.
What does it feel like?
Receiving Zero Balancing is being fully supported
with clarity, allowed to sink and let go
of pains and baggage, while your stress melts
and you regain your calm centre. Most people
undergoing ZB report experiencing a sense
of fluidity, integration and well-being following
a session. Some lose their chronic pains
and tensions.
What does Zero Balancing do?
The hallmarks of Zero Balancing are the integration
of the client's body energy with their body
structure; creating clearer, stronger fields
of energy in the body/mind; and balancing
energy in the densest tissues of the body,
the bone and skeletal system where the deepest
and strongest currents flow. The focus of
interest in Zero Balancing is where structure
and energy meet and how they are interrelated.
What are Structure and Energy?
The structural body is what you can see and
touch - bone, soft tissue and all the body
organs. The energy body is the seen and unseen
movement, including the life force itself.
Your energy body directly affects, and in
large part is responsible for, your mood,
emotions and vitality. As changes in energy
fields precede disease, the balancing processes
often releases pain or dysfunction and supports
change.
How does it work?
Zero Balancing uses specific finger pressure
and held stretches, called fulcrums. A fulcrum
provides a point of stillness around which
energy and structure can reorganize. Specifically,
fulcrums are placed and held in the areas
of our body that operate involuntarily, yet
are crucial in transmitting our energies.
Being involuntary, they are also unconscious;
when compromised they compensate so as to
maintain integrity or, in other words, to
keep us going. Imbalance can be held there
for decades, or until a clearer field of
energy over-rides it.

What is special about the quality of ZB touch?
ZB touches at interface: that place of clarity
where the hands of the practitioner and the
body of the client meet mutually at their
energetic boundaries, at the growing edge.
With a clear interface, neither giver nor
receiver will pick up anything from the other
person.
Why the name Zero Balancing?
The name "Zero Balancing" came
from a client's description of her experience.
"I feel so perfectly balanced; it's
almost like I am zero balanced". Her
meaning was that she had been brought back
to the experience of an original state.
How often should one receive ZB?
Each session is complete in itself. However,
for maximum benefit, I recommend three sessions
a week apart, as the pleasure and benefit
deepens.
Where did ZB come from?
Dr. Fritz Smith created Zero Balancing in
1975 after40 years of practice as a doctor,
osteopath, acupuncture teacher, Rolfer and
yogi. Now aged 80, he travels the world teaching
ZB.
